CDI helps its members facilitate liquidity and price
by standardizing data to grow the voluntary carbon markets, build a working derivatives market and provide carbon asset management.
Approximately 36 billion metric tons of CO2 are stored in nature, with much of this carbon remaining untapped for trading. In the African drylands alone, around 840 billion metric tons are sequestered. If these carbon sources were accessible for hedging, the voluntary carbon market (VCM) could easily reach $6.4 trillion, attracting significant financing and fostering technical innovation within the carbon market.
